What are cookies and do we use them?
A cookie is a text-only string of information that a website transfers to the cookie file of the browser on your computer's hard disk so that the website can remember who you are.
A cookie will typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the "lifetime" of the cookie, and a value, usually a randomly generated unique number.
Two types of cookies are used on this website:
- Session Cookies, which are temporary cookies that remain in the cookie file of your browser until you leave the site.
- Persistent cookies, which remain in the cookie file of your browser for much longer (though how long will depend on the lifetime of the specific cookie)
Cookies can help a website to arrange content to match your preferred interests more quickly. Most major websites use cookies. Cookies cannot be used by themselves to identify you.
Use of cookies
Cookies are small amounts of information which we may store on your computer to enable our server to collect certain information from your web browser. Cookies in themselves do not identify the individual user, just the computer used. Cookies and other similar technology make it easier for you to log on to and use the site during future visits. It also allows us to monitor website traffic, to identify you when you visit this site, to personalise the content of the site for you and to enable you to both carry out transactions and have access to information about your account. Cookies themselves only record which areas of the site have been visited by the computer in question, and for how long. Allowing us to create a cookie does not give us access to the rest of your computer and we will not use cookies to track your online activity once you leave our site. Cookies are read only by the server that placed them, and are unable to execute any code or virus. With most Internet browsers, you can erase cookies from your computer hard drive, block all cookies or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. If you want to know how to do this please look at the help menu on your web browser. However, please note that switching off cookies will mean that you may not be able to use certain features on our Site. Find out more about the use of cookies and on how to switch off cookies on www.cookiecentral.com or http://www.aboutcookies.org.

Site security
To maximise the privacy of your information and provide a consistent visual presentation, a relatively current and capable browser is required. For example, the browser must support JavaScript™, cookies, and SSL. For enhanced security, a browser version that uses 128-bit SSL encryption or higher is recommended.
Our commitment to exceptional customer service and value means we respect and protect the privacy of our customers. To help us provide the best possible service, we may collect and maintain certain information regarding, for example, the products you purchase, and your billing and delivery information. However, we protect and enforce the confidentiality of this information very strictly, and under no circumstances will we sell or rent it to other businesses or third parties. We respect your privacy and do all we can to honour the trust you place in Benney Watches.
We currently only send emails to customers who have asked us to send them information about our products and services. If you have asked for such emails in the past, but have now changed your mind, just email us at info@benneywatches.com and let us know. We’ll remove your details from our emailing list.
SSL information
SSL uses public-key encryption using keys of various sizes, 40-, 56-, 128-bit, etc. The larger the key length and number of possible keys, the more difficult it is for unauthorised persons to decrypt or read the message. For example, messages encrypted with a 128-bit key are much more secure than a message encrypted with a 40-bit key.
The size of the key is tied to a specific browser installation. This secure Site only accepts browsers with minimum encryption strength of 128-bit. The Site provides the maximum level of encryption supported by your browser. When you use this Site at work, only the browsers provided or authorised by your employer should be used.
If the URL of a secure document begins with "https://", the "s" indicates a secure channel to the server. Also, when security (SSL) is present, both Microsoft® Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator® display a padlock icon, which is closed once a secure channel is established.
